Lacuna Coil
Live From The Apocalypse
Century Media Records

Italian Goth metal rockers Lacuna Coil chose to respond to the global pandemic the best way they could. Live stream a full-on rock show to celebrate their recently released album Black Anima for fans stuck at home across the globe.
In September of 2020, The Alcatraz in Milan, Italy became the home base for this special event and although there weren’t any fans to greet them with applause and cheers, the band played their hearts out as they always do. Nothing was spared for this performance, Lacuna Coil were in full costume with the stage outfitted as if they were expecting a full house. Of course, the number of fans who tuned into the live stream easily exceeded the venue capacity.
And thus, Live from the Apocalypse is being released on CD and DVD for fans to relive or for those who missed the livestream. And, truly, this is a must have for Lacuna Coil fans. Although the performance does lack the energy of a show with a full audience, the band has clearly thrown their heart and soul into each song they perform.
Lead vocalist Cristina Scabbia is in top form here with her distinctive voice sounding strong and powerful, nailing all of those wailing notes head on. Her acoustic rendition of “Save Me” accompanied only by Silvia Zanaboni on piano is just superb. Likewise, co-vocalist Andrea Ferro is also in top form throughout this show with his intense gutturals.
Although Lacuna Coil was not able to properly promote Black Anima as they intended to with a tour, Live from the Apocalypse became the best solution.
