Old sayings like ‘better late than never’ might sound trite sometimes, but in most cases, they turn out to be true. So is the case with Chicago’s Emitter and their old/new album, Extra Pale. So, what’s the story?

The band has been operating since the turn of the millenium, having a breakout single and a self-titled debut album for big label, Atlantic. They recorded the second that was to be released in 2006. That never happened.

Twenty years on, while the songs were stuck on some old hard drive, the band decided to finish what they called unfinished business, revived those 20-year-old songs, and turned them into Extra Pale.

So, how has time treated Emitter and their unfinished business? Quite kindly, frankly, as the founding members David Schoon and Steven Dale purchased the original tapes. They are doing the final touches, showing that the original recordings still have musical merit, as if everything was conceived and recorded yesterday.
