EFFE
SOLDER
ARTIST HOUSE RECORDS

Dream pop in all its shapes and forms (old and new) lives on, and Melbourne, Australia’s singer/songwriter effe and her latest EP Solder confirm the fact.
As far as that old and new thing is concerned, effe brings both sides of that coin on the five tracks here – from touches of early Massive Attack to more modern electronica trends with orchestral touches to boot, the latter courtesy of Alex Craig and Edward Quinn. Traces of effe’s faves are also scattered around here – from Björk’ experimental touches to Portishead and Lana Del Rey.
Yet, instead of turning these elements into an unholy mess, effe is able to, ahem, solder all of them into something quite seamless here, giving promise of some bigger thing to come from her direction.
