DUKE & GOLDIE
ROMANCE AND RAMBLIN’
INDEPENDENT

Duke and Goldie are Vancouver’s Eric “The Duke” Duquette and Jena “Goldie” Gogo, who some might be familiar as longtime members of roots rockers Blue Sky Miners. As a duo, Duke and Goldie take one step away from rock to dive deep into the Americana/country territory, as is so audible on their latest five-track EP Romance and Ramblin’.
Many would quibble, so what’s new? The answer there should be quite simple: nothing and everything. Nothing in the sense that Duke & Goldie stay firmly in the musical territory they decided to cover here, with no ifs and buts. On the other hand, everything, as their take on the country, both new and old is practically impeccable, as the duo’s both vocal and instrumental performance (backup included) is practically impeccable, and their songwriting is right there where it should be, making this a top-notch Americana/country EP, up with the best of the genre that came out this year.
