HARM’S WAY
CARPARK RECORDS
For some current artists, their favorite music style or styles don’t go away, and it just needs to always be here. For Toronto duo Ducks Ltd. that just might be the combination of power and jangle pop rock, particularly the way it was played and heard in the 80s and early 90s.
Still, McGreevy and Lewis don’t simply re-hash the past on their latest album Harm’s Way, their pacey version of it includes some nifty guitar work layered over skillfully crafted melodies and dual vocals (sometimes with the help of Ratboys’ Julia Steiner and Marcus Nuccio) brings this sound combination smack dab in the middle of modern times.
And throughout the nine tracks here, the duo doesn’t relinquish their pace nor is there a single duff moment to be heard, making Harm’s Way quite a delight, that surely is not in anybody’s (musical) harm’s way.
