SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: DAVE EAST – SURVIVAL

Dave East

Dave East
Survival
Def Jam

Dave East’s highly anticipated debut  album, Survival, has finally dropped. With 20 tracks and features ranging from Nas, Mozzy, E-40, Teyana Taylor, Gunna, Rick Ross, The Dream, Fabolous, Ash Leone, Jacquees, and Lil Baby, Dave East has created an amazing album.

The whole album is well-produced and engineered. When listening to songs such as “Alone” “Whats Goin On”, “PentHouse”, “GodFather 4”, “Need a Sign”, and “OG”, everything from instrumentals, samples, vocals, and skits are mastered properly and flow nicely from one song to next.

In addition to putting out a great sounding project, Dave East gets very introspective and personal. Songs such as “Daddy Knows”, “Mama I Made It”, “On My Way to School”, and “The Marathon Continues” show a more introspective side of East. Here he discusses his relationship with his daughter, disappointing his mother, dropping out of college, losing Nipsey Hussle and his cousins, and seeing the people in his neighbourhood fall victim to the street life. By doing this, people can feel the pain he has gone through.

Overall, Dave East’s debut album is solid and should definitely be checked out.
