Black Sugar Transmission
Wandering Into The Bullseye
Independent
For the uninitiated, Black Sugar Transmission has existed for around a decade now, and they are about to enter an almost ridiculously prolific year, with three album releases all in place for 2020. Wandering into the Bullseye, with a February release, is the first. This is a musical genre fly, previous to this Black Sugar Transmission completed a tribute to Motorheadβs Overkill, but it isΒ largely a guitar/synth outfit with an almost surprisingly a melodic feel andΒ strong, clear, vocals.
Wandering into the Bullseye is power pop harmony, with a taste of acid. Standout tracks include the opener βLike Glassβ and lead single βDonβt Blame the Horseβ.
The album is also notable for the fact that New York based musician Andee Blacksugar has taken on all production and performance duties entirely on his own with no outside collaborators, making this a really remarkable achievement.Β This is quite possibly going to be one of the most interesting releases of 2020. If you like the album and are a tactile person who wants to own hard copy music then this will make a really interesting addition to your collection.
