SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: BISONBISON – HOVER

BisonBison

BisonBison
Hover
Zozaya Records

BisonBison is collaborative project that consists of producers Dani Ramez and Chad Skinner, alongside drummer Brad Weber of Caribou, harpist Sinéad Bermingham, and vocalist Sophia Alexandra. It is a talented collection of musicians. They create a Celtic sound, relaxing, and reminiscent of Enya. It’s certainly atmospheric and distinctive, but never truly exciting.

Full of vocal harmonies, they are reminiscent of nature, and the washing of sound on the beach and senses; a fair sample of this is the single “Expanding”where the winter winds seem to penetrate into the percussion.  Words that spring to mind here are mellow, enchanted, thoughtful; yet there is that slight edge of the barren winter infused within.

Hover didn’t quite do enough to connect to with me; it relaxed me, but is that enough?
