SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: ANDERVEL – IRONCLAD & PALM TREES

Andervel

ANDERVEL
IRONCLAD & PALM TREES
INDEPENDENT

How does a prospect of a Mexican singer-songwriter sing in English and Icelandic (and only a single one in Spanish) sound?

While the English in that equation might not sound so strange, well then neither should Icelandic either as Jose Louis Andervel, Mexican-born singer-songwriter has been living in Reykjavík for a while now, who simply goes as Andervel, and after a series of single releases, is now set to come up with his debut album proper titled Ironclad & Palm Trees.

And maybe it took him time to come up with it, but it turns out to be time quite well spent, as both his songwriting and his vocals are the gist of what singer-songwriter genre is made of. At the same time, there is the element of lush string arrangements going throughout the album that give it that distinctive element it needs, a bit of classical music touches that make Andervel’s sound a distinctive touch, as his does his traveling one does too.
