With their newest album, The Surface Seems So Far, Seether proves that rock is not dead. It is hard rock at its finest and loudest. The Surface Seems So Far is one of, if not the heaviest, album by Seether. It comes at you at full force and never gives up with its powerful and aggressive headbanging guitar riffs, hardcore vocals, and explosive drums.

The guitar riffs on this album are so good. If you want a rock record with nasty and heavy riffs, The Surface Seems So Far has you covered. There is just monster riff after monster riff. “Try To Heal” features guitar riffs that are full of high-octane energy. “Lost All Control” has a gnarly tone on its opening guitar riff that kicks ass. Lastly, “Dead On The Vine” has some spectacular shredding happening and contains an electrifying guitar solo.

Shaun Morgan’s vocals are easily the best thing about the record. Morgan’s screams will make you listen in awe; they are insane and unreal. Time after time, Morgan will shock you with how loud and high his screams can go. Combine that with the thunderous and intense instrumentation, and you will be rocking out non-stop. “Judas Mind”, “Illusion”, and “Semblance Of Me” are standouts that showcase Morgan’s tremendous vocal range. All three will easily become fan favourites at concerts as well.

The drums on The Surface Seems So Far are also incredible and have such a great rhythm to them. “Paint The World” is a main highlight of the drums.

Seether shows the band has plenty left in the tank as The Surface Seems So Far is one of their best albums to date.
