SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: CLAY PARKER AND JODI JAMES – YOUR VERY OWN DREAM

Clay Parker And Jodi James

CLAY PARKER AND JODI JAMES
YOUR VERY OWN DREAM
INDEPENDENT

There’s this relaxed, free-flowing stream in Americana music today picking up and refining the pieces singer-songwriters picked up from Americana itself back in the 70s and its current for enchanting so many fans of the genre.

Louisiana duo Clay Parker and Jodi James have been among such a group of artists, that some have dubbed ‘back porch music’ that comes up with such relaxed, but still complex music that has its best effect in the wee hours of the day (or night, if you will). No wonder the duo has called its latest album Your Very Own Dream.

With Parker and James, everything excels – the dual songwriting, dual vocals and harmonies, brilliant playing and subtle arrangements, with excellent lyrics to boot.

It just might be a dream, but this album is one of those that is every Americana (and every other) music fan’s dream come true.
