SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: ARTIMUS PYLE BAND – ANTHEMS: HONORING THE MUSIC OF LYNYRD SKYNYRD

Lynyrd Skynyrd

ARTIMUS PYLE BAND
ANTHEMS: HONORING THE MUSIC OF LYNYRD SKYNYRD
GET JOE RECORDS

In a momentous celebration of the enduring legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Artimus Pyle, the last surviving member of the legendary band, is set to release his highly anticipated album, Anthems: Honoring The Music Of Lynyrd Skynyrd, on February 2, 2024. This remarkable product arrives on the heels of the 45th anniversary of the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s iconic frontman, Ronnie Van Zant.

In a heartfelt tribute to the late Ronnie Van Zant, Pyle’s latest anthology showcases a stunning collaboration of renowned artists from the music industry. The collection of songs takes us on a mesmerizing journey through the timeless classics that made Van Zant shine.

Dolly Parton, an icon in her own right, pays homage to Van Zant by delivering a soul-stirring rendition of “Free Bird.”

Sammy Hagar, known for his electrifying performances, takes on “Simple Man” to provide that southern rock heritage.

From the haunting melodies of Adele’s rendition of “Sweet Home Alabama” to the soulful interpretation of “Gimme Three Steps” by John Legend, they lend a tapestry of diverse styles and interpretations that celebrate Van Zant’s enduring influence.

By curating this extraordinary collaboration, Pyle has created a truly unforgettable tribute, inviting us to rediscover the magic of Van Zant’s lyrics through fresh and inspired performances.

While Van Zant tragically passed away in 1977, his legacy lives on. As we look to the future, there is no doubt that Van Zant’s anthems will persist for generations to come. They will be etched into the annals of music history, reminding us of the power of a well-crafted song to evoke emotion, challenge conventions, and connect us all.

So, whether you’re a die-hard fan or a curious newcomer, do not miss the opportunity to own this extraordinary album.

About the Author
Melinda Welsh
Melinda is a music enthusiast from the US who grew up on vinyl in the 70s and 80s. She's a lover of all genres, but rock/metal runs through her veins. Music is always in the background and in her head. Unfortunately, she has to have a "regular 8-5" job since "Professional Concert Go-er" doesn't pay the bills. Her bliss would be to follow more musicians and bands than "People she may know" on social media. Her ultimate long term goal is to be the old lady just enjoying the show down in front at the barricades at live shows. Her favorite quote is "Where words fail, music speaks".
