The New York band Beach Fossils returns this spring with Bunny, the perfect album to vibe to this season. Melodic, harmonious, and lighthearted are words that can best sum up the record’s atmosphere. Additionally, the artwork is a pure reflection of the sound and energy that the 11 tracks give off.

The album per se is a balanced mix between dream pop and soft indie rock with a trace of subtle post punk. The rhythmical structure of the melodies is the same throughout all the songs. In fact, the persistence of the same peaceful essence is a notable feature that the band achieved. A slow bass, a solid drumbeat, some smooth riffs, accompanied by some other instruments, such as a piano and a tambourine, are the main elements in “Run To The Moon”, “Tough Love” and “Waterfall”. The stellar track of the record, “Don’t Fade Away”, has this delicate post-punk intro that rapidly turns into soft music lead by frontman Payseur’s voice that can easily be compared to loud but serene whispers.

Without a doubt, Bunny feels like an emotional and personal record. Whereas the sound transmits a bright aura, the lyrics elude a melancholic mood. Musically, it is not a complex album, rather a friendly one. Just 37 sweet-sounding minutes that are the right match to a sunny day of spring for anyone out there.
