SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: CASHAVELLY MORRISON – METAMORPHOSIS

Cashavelly Morrison

Independent

Artists often have a hit and miss affairs when they name their releases. Very few hit a title that truly explains the music contained in the grooves, or stream bits, if you will.

In a way, North Carolina singer songwriter Cashavelly Morrison has hit the nail right on its head when she named her latest album Metamorphosis. Yet, that possibly doesn’t have anything to do with the music she has done previously, but with the fact how she can switch her musical outlook from roots Americana to quite a few other modern pop idioms with ease and aplomb, without making a twitch either in her songwriting or her vocal delivery, both being quite impeccable.

“It was time to step off the path that was paved by family and culture and step into the dark woods where there’s no trail,” says Morrison, and does it on this album as it was the easiest thing to do, coming up with some quite exquisite music along the way.
