Roger Eno And Brian Eno
Mixing Colours
Deutsche Grammophon
Iโve loved Roger Enoโs work ever since I heard โIn a Roomโ. His latest release, Mixing Colours, has calmed my mind the past few days, and it has been splendid. A minute into โSpring Frostโ, my feelings of recent weeks that seem to be indescribable, finally make sense. While ominous at times, Mixing Colours leaves the listener feeling at peace with the world for better or worse.
I love all the tracks on this album, especially โBlondeโ which is such a gorgeous song and should be added to everyoneโs Wedding playlist. Then thereโs โDark Siennaโ which is simple and elegant until the bass keys come in, then itโs a new experience where the melody is incredibly fulfilling in the low octave. โVerdigrisโ sounds like a childโs video game, which makes me so happy. As this album progresses, I canโt help feeling like the Eno brothers are saying goodbye to someone or something, especially in โSnowโ and โRose Quartzโ that sound like Radiohead deep cuts.
I absolutely love this collaboration between Roger and Brian Eno. It is both relaxing and dissonant, and will calm your roaming mind. Now is the time to put down your devices more regularly and feel something. Mixing Colours can help you do that.
