Girlfriend Material has released yet another uniquely jarring and lyrically delicious album Cool Car. Shaping out the sounds we previously heard from their last self-titled EP in 2017, it seems the band has figured out what they want music listeners to hear, and has come out victorious with a mature and diverse collection that is sure to dazzle fans that are hankering for a new alternative indie voice to fill their speakers.

Moments like “First of The Month” and “There She Goes Again” are gems that test the waters of what this band can pull off with inventive, fresh ideas instrumentally while also staying true to its alternative roots. While both are stylistically different from one another, each brings a sort of welcome change within the album that challenges out understanding of what alternative bands “should” sound like.

For curious fans that are looking for something truly different within this genre, Cool Car strives to be a sound that hasn’t been touched for some time since the early 2000s at least. Girlfriend Material has a hit on their hands, and there is no telling where they will go from here.
