SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: MITCH TONES BAND – MITCH TONES BAND EP

Mitch Tones Band

Mitch Tones Band
Mitch Tones Band EP
Independent

The new Mitch Tones Band EP is a solid effort that is best suited with an aged bourbon and a cigarette after the album is finished. This self-titled EP has a strong swagger and its heaviness at times challenges the listener to trust the words of a rambling man. Musicianship on the album is well-presented and the mixes are fantastic. The lyrics that Mitch Tones sings tell some dark secrets indeed, as in “I’m Not Waking Up”, Mitch talks about his apparent date with Death each night.

The five-song EP starts off with its flagship song “World of Trouble” on a high note and really gets me in the mood for the rest of the album. Unfortunately, I feel some of the songs miss a spark of originality and it’s distracting because the album is produced incredibly well. The Toronto-based band put together a fine EP and I personally hope they keep writing, recording, and playing, there is a diamond in the rough here and I would really like to hear a follow-up.

SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: KNITTING – SOUVENIR

by Ljubinko Zivkovic on June 26, 2026
KNITTING SOUVENIR MINT RECORDS Montreal’s knitting does love the sound of their guitars (quite evident on their debut Some Kind of Heaven from 2024), but simply labelling them as a slacker band, particularly listening to Souvenir, their [...]
