The Cavemen
Burn Out For Love b/w Dancing On The Razors Edge
Dirty Water Records
New Zealandβs grimiest punk outfit The Cavemen has returned with a two-track single, Burn Out For Love b/w Dancing On The Razors Edge. The single follows the release of their self-titled full-length album from earlier this year.
The first of two tracks, βBurn Out For Loveβ wastes no time to getting started with a barrage ofΒ thrashing drums, beyond distorted guitars, edgy vocals in the tone of Johnny Rotten and Iggy Pop circa 1973, with an overall lo-fi flare. In true punk form, the band blasts through a couple of choruses, an aggressive guitar solo, and the song is over just like that.
βDancing On The Razors Edgeβ is perhaps even more aggressive than the previous track with the amps sounding as if theyβre set to combust after a long day in the studio. The guitars are crunchier, more rhythmic with ample amounts of feed back, and the pace is blistering.
All in all, Burn Out For Love b/w Dancing On The Razors Edge is what you should expect from The Cavemen: itβs fast, itβs rough, and it sounds like a dropkick to the face. While only a single, this should leave fans excited for what is to come in the next year as the band continues to hone their skills as some of the hardest old school punks around.
