DAN MANGAN SAYS “GOODBYE, AMERICA” ON NEW SINGLE

ARTS & CRAFTS

Dan Mangan returns just in time for election season with the new single, “Goodbye, America.”

On the new single, Dan Mangan had the following to say. “As a Canadian, watching Rome being torched from within is like holding someone’s hand as they wither away in a hospice,” says Mangan. “It’s like seeing the innards of a loved one corrode as they drink themselves to death. This song could be misconstrued as scathing, but truly it’s a love letter. It’s not that a country is actually gone, or that I would turn my back, but that the prevailing myth of America is no longer sturdy enough to see without squinting your eyes. To steal a metaphor from Get Out, many sane Americans have receded to ‘the sunken place’ – somewhere in there, millions upon millions of people are screaming through a pinhole. They want to know: ‘how could we let this happen?’”
