DRIVEWAY CEILING
DEATH OF THE WALDEN NEWSPAPER CO.
INDEPENDENT PROJECT RECORDS (IPR)

Is there a college rock revival going on? It might be a question for a more detailed response. But if the revival of some of the best artists that originated during the college rock prime time season in the 90s (the new Olivia Tremor Control album, for example), or slow (or not so slow rise) of new bands and artist that were weaned on that sound (Pardoner is a recent example) is any indicator, that stream of melodic, lyrically smart rock is on its way back.
If you are already compiling a list of bands and artists involved, you can easily add to it a quartet from Turnbull, Connecticut (not exactly a musical center itself) that goes by the name of Driveway Ceiling which just released its debut album Death of The Walden Newspaper Co.
From the album title and its subject matter, it is all retro for today’s (and yesterday’s, of course) audiences with its focus on keeping the melody lines alive, giving the guitars front space and keeping you concept and its lyrical part tightly focused. Quite an achievement for a debut album.
