Kevin Rowland and his Dexys Midnight Runners have been around for decades now, and have gone through quite a number of changes, both in musical styles covered, as well as the number of members in the band. Throughout these changes, there were two constants: Rowland and the quality of his music, no matter what personal or musical guise he decided to take on.

On his and the band’s latest (some say it might be the last for both Rowland and the band), simply titled Love, Rowland is another of his soul modes. This time around, it is that classic soul sound that many label as deep soul, and it just might be exactly where Rowland’s true love lies and seems to suit him oh so well.

With almost a countless number of releases since the opening salvo on Searching Four Young Soul Rebels (1980) it seems that Rowland has gone full circle, and in quite a great manner at that. Hopefully, this is not the last one.
