SHAKEY GRAVES
FONDNESS, ETC.
DUALTONE RECORDS

When you decide to go lo-fi, make a DIY record, and make it work, there has to be a set of very solid musical reasons (unless it is a question of being forced to go cheap) behind it, and those reasons are usually trying to convey a very personal mood and feelings across to your audience.
And that seems to be exactly what Austin, TX artist, Shakey Graves had in mind when he set out to record his fifth album, Fondness, Etc. Already known for his ability to step out of what is usually expected from your ‘standard’ singer songwriter, Alejandro Rose-Garcia, the man behind the Shakey Graves moniker, is truly able to recreate all the personal feelings he is trying to present through this set of real bedroom (or kitchen?) recordings (some of them where actually done on his porch), and that usually takes a humongous amount of work to get right. And Shakey Graves did get it right here.
