Where is modern pop rock coming from these days? Simple answer – everywhere. The more complicated one – how does it fit in within general trends in modern music, how does it cross language barriers, and quite a few other questions that determine whether it has a chance to reach a wider audience anywhere in this streaming world we live in.
So here we have a clear example of a pop rock band trying to resolve all of the above so that it all works in their favor – a quartet coming out of city of Niš, Serbia, led by one Luka Nikolić, a guy that obviously has immersed himself in all that has been brewing within the broad indie rock spectrum since the late 90s on, and that he and the gang have sublimated in the five tracks here with quite some aplomb and ease.
Yet, the key here lies in the fact that Nikolić wasn’t really thinking much about how to make his music palpable to as many listeners as possible, but how to express himself and the rest of the band in the best manner it suits them.
