SHEBAD – INNER OPENINGS
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE ALBUM PREMIERE
Indie soul collective SHEBAD, the creative duo of visual artist and vocalist Claire Voy and multi-instrumentalist Ciccio Spagnolo, announce INNER OPENINGS, a two-track EP reframing live staples “Inner Rise” and “Open Yourself” through a psychedelic, dance-driven lens.
Recorded with their full band at Studio Dandurand in Montreal over two days, INNER OPENINGS captures the kinetic energy that has come to define SHEBAD’s live sets. Long-time friends and collaborators King Cruff and Anomalie step into the fold lending psychedelic synth textures and character-rich verses that push these tracks into a new, expansive space.
INNER OPENINGS is a reflection on our growth through the years and stepping further into our vulnerability and capability as a band,” says SHEBAD. “We finally tackled the challenge of reimagining old recordings, knowing we could push these songs further than we could in our original 2022 releases. They’re here to remind us to push our creative limits, strive for authenticity over perfection, and to
inspire one another through collaboration. We’re thankful for the listeners that encouraged us to do this; we’re so excited for these songs to reach you”.
The EP arrives on the heels of their lively Audiotree Live Session and 2025’s Music is the Answer (Stripped), which peeled back their acclaimed 2024 debut into raw, acoustic performances. Where Stripped spotlighted the band’s songwriting and harmony, INNER OPENINGS flips that foundation outward, accelerating SHEBAD’s jazz-fuelled DNA towards the dancefloor, pointing toward a new body of music arriving later this year.
To celebrate INNER OPENINGS, SHEBAD will bring their five-piece band to intimate rooms and venues across Canada and the U.S. this winter, continuing to bridge the line between cathartic soul and improvisation. The band will also bring their live show to the West Coast of Canada this summer, with additional dates to be announced.
