SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: SCENIC ROUTE TO ALASKA – TOUGH LUCK

Scenic Route To Alaska

Scenic Route To Alaska
Tough Luck
popTrip Records

Tough Luck, the fourth full length album release from Scenic Route to Alaska, takes thoughtful depth and sophisticated rhythm to a whole new level, creating an album that shines from start to finish.

Trevor Mann on lead vocals and guitar, Shea Connor on drums, and Murray Wood on bass make up the timeless trio from Edmonton, Alberta. Their prairie-indie roots show throughout the album, with a static growth from their prior LP’s that a lot of bands fail to realize on a fourth release.

In “Find my Footing”, the simplistic riff and drum style is complimented by Mann’s intoxicating vocals—and the cleverly-written lyrics create an effortless track worth the repeat option on any music app.

All 10 tracks are layered beautifully, and in “Lonely Nights”, their seductive talent for poeticism through their lyrics is wildly obvious creating a fresh, heartfelt and flawless tune about the intricacies of love.

Scenic Route to Alaska combine the beauty of raw talent and bold musical choices with their new release Tough Luck. Every song on the album has something to be desired, and the storytelling provided makes it an instant classic for any fan of the genre.
