TOMÁS TOMÁS – “9TH LIFE”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Brooklyn-based artist and producer Tomás Tomás returns with his lo-fi single “9th Life” (out today, October 9), a raw and intimate track recorded with little more than a busted guitar, earbud mic, and borrowed spaces between friends’ apartments. Fans of Radiohead and Alex G will find resonance in its cinematic melancholy, underscored by a dreamlike self-directed video that marks his first step into visual storytelling. The release sets the stage for a larger collaboration: I Gotta Look Up More, a forthcoming short film co-directed by actor Jaeden Martell (IT, Defending Jacob) in his directorial debut. Together, Tomás and Martell blur the lines between music and film, capturing fleeting youth, alternate lives, and restless urgency—an ambitious prelude to Tomás’ debut album Sweet Sleep (out November 2025).
ARTIST QUOTE
“9th Life was recorded late at night in my Two Bridges NYC apartment. I used the voice notes app to record the instruments. I deliberately left the window open to let the outside soundscapes bleed into the recording. The lyrics explore the ideas of regret, and the yearning to move forward. The song is paired with a visual. I wanted to make a video that represents the feeling in between being awake and asleep. The main character experiences reruns of fragmented memories he wishes to experience again”
