PETE FIJ – “DON’T BRING ME SUNSHINE”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Pete Fij has released his jangly, soaring new single “Don’t Bring Me Sunshine” from upcoming album Up’s The New Down, due out July 10th via Tip Top Records. Fij explains: “This was written as an anti love song, though musically I wanted to juxtapose it’s ‘bah-humbug’ lyrics with the joyous feeling of the exhilaration of driving fast (though always within the speed limit of course) with the windows wide open, the rush of wind in your hair, and your best friend sitting next to you. Who needs love when you’ve a got a full tank of petrol, the stereo cranked up to full and the whole of Summer lying ahead on the heat-hazed open road?
“Don’t Bring Me Sunshine” follows album singles “Cuckoo” and “Love’s Coming Back,” which earned praise and support from Brooklyn Vegan, New Noise, SPILL, Magnet, and more. Renowned for his unmistakable voice and wry lyrical touch, Pete Fij(alkowski) makes a welcome return with fresh solo material – unveiling songs that brim with melody, wit and understated charm.
Slinging back on the electric guitar, ditching the job, upping the BPMs, and falling in love again has resulted in Pete embracing his fuzzed up dream-pop past but also throwing in elements of pop and electronica.
“Don’t Bring Me Sunshine” by Pete Fij is out now.
