ORMISTON – “HAMMER DOWN”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Welcome to the room of funk. In a well-lit studio, between amps and microphones, Montreal-born and based singer-songwriter and producer Ormiston delivers his one-of-a-kind fusion of disco grooves and infectious indie pop melodies with euphoria, losing himself in the bass pocket and the energy of the live performance. Staying true to the song title, he lets swing, putting the “Hammer Down” with palpable enthusiasm.
The musician cites the works of Tame Impala, MGMT, and Toro y Moi as key inspirations for his indie-electronic-infused sound,
while this single exudes the energy of Daft Punk, Breakbot, Alan Braxe from Stardust, and Toro y Moi.
Ormiston talks us through the creation of his single, “Hammer Down”:
“With this first opus, I allowed myself to navigate through different writing styles and themes. I let myself discover my identity without forcing myself, I really wanted to give myself the chance to find my own sound. And I think I have succeeded (laughs). Afternoon Disco, I love this term! It’s electro with indie that sounds pop”.
