THE MARCH VIOLETS – “HAMMER THE LAST NAIL”
METROPOLIS RECORDS
The March Violets have released a new single entitled “Hammer the Last Nail” accompanied by a smashing new video, the first taste of their forthcoming Metropolis Records album entitled Crocodile Promises. The new album will be promoted with a launch show in London at The Garage (July 20th), followed by Rebellion Festival in Blackpool (August 2nd), along with additional UK dates. Born in Leeds 1981, at the vanguard of Post-Punk, the March Violets were featured in the John Hughes 1987 movie Some Kind of Wonderful with the single “Turn to the Sky.” The March Violets are now a lean three-piece featuring original members Tom Ashton (guitars) and Rosie Garland (vox) with new bassist Mat Thorpe. Crocodile Promises will officially be released on July 19th by Metropolis Records on CD, vinyl and through all streaming and digital platforms.
ARTIST QUOTES
Rosie – “It’s a song about breaking free of gaslighting. Now is the time to untangle yourself from toxic people. The March Violets are set to Hammer the Last Nail into damaging relationships that keep us in prison. Enough. Time’s up.”
Tom -” …and we mean that on every level, not just domestically but on a global scale. These people are there, in high places or hoping to be. We know who they are, and they do too, and they are now proud of their dysfunction. Time for that to end as well!”
Crocodile Promises Album:
Rosie – “I compare it to the 1980s, where our songs were as dark as the times we were living in. What’s happening in the world seeps in. Themes emerged in my lyrics, for example fighting back against and forming communities of defiance. Connecting with others, steering clear of dangerous people / influences. Which leads to the title: Crocodile Promises. We’ve all met people who promise the world and are lying through their teeth. It’s time to say, Enough. No more.”
