DOVES ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM WITH “RENEGADE” SINGLE
CONSTELLATIONS FOR THE LONELY WILL BE RELEASED FEBRUARY 14 ON EMI NORTH
Doves return with their first new music in over four years and announce a new album for release in early 2025, reclaiming territory all their own with the stormy euphoria of Renegade.ย Jimi Goodwin, Andyย andย Jez Williams’ winding path to a sixth album reaches that milestone next year, as the 10-Trackย Constellations For The Lonelyย is confirmed for release onย February 14, 2025ย after joiningย EMI North.
Signing off their last chapter with the release of their third UK chart-peaking album, 2020’s boundary-pushing,ย The Universal Want, the release ofย Renegadeย concludes a patchwork of writing and recording sessions that began in the same year. Reading from the same page on their new single’s sense of dystopian drama, all three Doves own sense of change, uncertainty, and determination pervades the intricate, Goodwin-fronted collage of cinematic sound.
The bands drummer, vocalist and co-songwriter,ย Andy Williams says: “Looking at everyone’s lives over recent years, and considering the news at the moment, ‘Renegade’ feels a lot more loaded in retrospect. We wanted to go for a dystopian feel, thinking about Manchester itself over the next century or so. A totally imaginary thing . . . ‘Blade Runner’ set in our home city.”
Settling on the collective desire for a new album as soon as they closed the door onย The Universal Want’s No.1 success, “Renegade” was the first to be written for Constellations Of The Lonelyย and the last to be written in their famed creative rural retreat,ย Frank Bough Sound III. Physically unanchored, waving off a totem of their shared past and facing personal mountains to climb, a new, intense, filmic, classic Doves album was carefully nurtured.
Released on multiple formats, including standard and special edition vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital, the confirmed track listing for Doves’ Constellations For The Lonelyย is as follows:
1. Renegade
2. Cold Dreaming
3. In The Butterfly House
4. Strange Weather
5. A Drop In The Ocean
6. Last Year’s Man
7. Stupid Schemes
8. Saint Teresa
9. Orlando
10. Southern Bell
The album was written, recorded, and produced by Doves between locations inย Greaterย Manchester, North Wales, andย Cheshireย with additional production from long-term collaborator,ย Dan Austin.
Constellations For The Lonelyย not only followsย The Universal Wantย but, also, theย Mercury-nominatedย albums, Lostย Soulsย (2000) andย The Last Broadcast (2002), their second, successive UK No. 1 album, Some Citiesย (2005) andย Kingdom Of Rustย (2009).
