WAASH – “IT GOES ON”
LIGHT ORGAN RECORDS
Andrew Bishop, a versatile musician hailing from Vancouver, has established himself as a prominent figure in the city’s pop music scene over the past decade. He’s contributed his talents as a guitarist to bands like Alex Little & the Suspicious Minds and Twin River, all while crafting country-infused solo tracks under the name White Ash Falls. Now, he’s embarked on a new musical journey with WAASH, merging his prolific songwriting skills with a passion for expansive shoegaze soundscapes, marking both a culmination of his musical career and a fresh start.
“It Goes On” is about moving on, learning to let go and not really listening to what others have to say. Sometimes relationships get to a point when both people don’t really care anymore. The writing’s on the wall, and everyone around you knows this is coming. You just have to take a moment, reflect and allow yourself time to breathe.
Although WAASH initially began as a solo project, it has evolved into a full-fledged live band. Andrew has assembled a group of long-time collaborators, and they recently debuted in their hometown, with plans for more shows on the horizon. The five song self-titled EP will be released on Nov. 20.
ARTIST QUOTE
“It Goes On” is about holding on to unnecessary relationships. You finally get to that point when you have to leave despite what others may think. Finally, you realize that the list will “go on and on” if you keep looking for reasons to stay. If you decide to move on, the bad goes with it.
I wanted something that felt loose and still to the point. The track feels nice and jammy, but is wrapped up in under four minutes.
I find myself writing about moving on and freeing yourself from bad vibes quite often. I guess it’s just the theme of my life, and these songs are my way of meditating on these relationships and finding peace with it
