SAINT AGNES RELEASE VISUALISER FOR NEW SINGLE “THE BEAST”
SPINEFARM RECORDS
London’s Saint Agnes have released a visualiser for “The Beast”, a track from their current/third studio album, Your God Fearing Days Are About To Begin, available now.
For the record release day, the band directed and edited a full album visual accompaniment, shown exclusively to a select group of fans in a private cinema. “The Beast” visualiser is one part of that and is a song about the consequence of loss. Taking the darkest moments and turning them into beauty and new life. The beast itself is the manifestation of grief, and in the song Kitty describes allowing it in, being savaged by it, learning to live with it as a companion and finally making a friend of it. A relationship that now forms her identity.
Saint Agnes singer/guitarist Kitty A. Austen:-
“The first half of the song came from a poem I’d written while I was in the absolute depths of grieving, the belly of the beast. It felt like I was being torn to pieces. That poem caught my eye when we were creating for the new record. It was so violent and brutal, so difficult to read, but it felt very different when I looked back at the words. I had learnt to carry my grief differently. I had weathered the storm. I had somehow found beauty in there, followed the light. I had let death bloom with life.”
Your God Fearing Days Are About To Begin, the follow-up to the Bloodsuckers album (2023), is produced by the band and mixed by Jim Pinder (Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, While She Sleeps), and features all of the recent singles/videos – “The Father, The Son and The Holy Beast,” “Song For Mia,” “Good Boy,” “The Ghost,” “Get Them Out” – as well as focus track, “Everything You Denied.”
“We really challenged ourselves with this new record,” reflects guitarist Jon, “we had no rules when it came to the writing and the recording, no boxes we felt we had to fit into. We just immersed ourselves in the music; after a false start to the recording that ate most of the budget, we had our backs against the wall. It turns out this is where we operate best. That frustration is in the music, but the sense of hope we felt between the three of us is in there, too. When I listen back, I hear defiance, beauty, sorrow and hope.”
“There’s definitely more beauty and light in the music this time, more melody,” continues Kitty, “but even existing in our own tight-knit space as a band, we weren’t able to divorce ourselves from the chaos in the wider world, the rise of powerful people hiding behind respectability; it was like a shadow hanging over us. That’s where the album title comes from. That feeling of unease bled into the record.”
Saint Agnes recently completed a run of shows in the UK & Europe, special guesting with Black Veil Brides; fresh off a mainstage performance at 2000 Trees, they now head to Europe to play a series of festivals including Rock The Lakes In Switzerland (16th August)
Then, in September/October, they travel to the US & Canada for a five-week run of dates as main support to The Rasmus; Saint Agnes appeared at the SXSW event in Austin earlier in the year, but this will be their first full run of dates in North America.
