MALINOWSKI OF JUNO AND PLATINUM AWARD WINNING BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH RELEASES HAUNTING NEW SONG “THE DOGS OF GOD”
TRACK INSPIRED BY HIS PODSONGS CONVERSATION WITH PHILOSOPHER RICHARD KEARNEY | FIRST SOLO ALBUM IN OVER A DECADE ARRIVES MARCH 13 ON DINE ALONE RECORDS
JUNO Award-winning and Platinum-selling artist Jay Malinowski, best known as one half of Bedouin Soundclash, releases “The Dogs of God,” a haunting new song sparked by his recent appearance on the podcast Podsongs. The track was conceived directly from Malinowski’s December 3 conversation with acclaimed Irish philosopher Richard Kearney, part of Episode 166: “Anatheism, Philosophy, and Music.”
The new track arrives in the lead-up to Under A Landslide Of Stars, Malinowski’s first solo album in over a decade, arriving March 13, 2026 via Dine Alone Records. Framed around love, faith, and the ways devotion can be twisted or redeemed, the album weaves intimate storytelling with large-scale choral performances captured from New Orleans to Victoria.
Podsongs, where artists interview inspiring people and then write a song inspired by the exchange, provided the catalyst for this evocative piece. In speaking with Kearney about his philosophy of anatheism, or the return to God after God, Malinowski found himself drawn into reflections on doubt, imagination, humor, and the sacredness woven into everyday life.
“The Dogs of God” emerged from that dialogue as a meditation on faith, freedom, and the delicate dance between the human and the divine, carried by Malinowski’s spare, poetic lyrics:
“Heavy is here on the mountain / Where I am slipping away / Heaven was you in the valley / Running free on a spring day in May…”
Malinowski traces the song’s emotional center directly to the conversation:
“Speaking with Richard sent me on an unexpected path. We talked about laughter as a sign of the holy, and his mention of the ‘Dogs of God’ brought back the story of St. Roch, patron saint of dogs. It made me realize how the dogs in my life opened me to mystery and compassion. The song became a tribute to them and to the grace found in loyalty, loss, and love.”
Kearney, deeply moved by Malinowski’s musical interpretation of their exchange, praises the result:
“It’s a truly wonderful song, it had me running with the dogs of God from beginning to end. The lyrics and Celtic fiddle are hauntingly beautiful. No wonder our greatest hero, Cú Chulainn, was named after a hound, and St. Roch is patron of dogs. Jay has turned philosophy into melody; a canine hymn to faith and wonder.”
He adds, “Jay’s song translates the idea of anatheism into something you can feel. It’s about returning to wonder, and discovering divinity not beyond the world, but within it.”
“The Dogs of God” is the latest example of the Podsongs creative model in action: a unique collaboration between conversation and songwriting that turns philosophical inquiry into lyrical expression.
The song is available now on all major streaming platforms. Podsongs Episode 166, featuring Jay Malinowski and Richard Kearney, is streaming wherever you get your podcasts.
