SPILL NEW MUSIC: HIPSTER SLAVES – “FINE YOUNG HANDS”

HIPSTER SLAVES – “FINE YOUNG HANDS“

BALD FREAK MUSIC

Hipster Slaves is an electronic project from Dillinger Escape Plan co-founder and drummer Chris Pennie and Bald Freak Music founder and singer Ron Scalzo. The duo has released the new single “Fine Young Hands” via Scalzo’s Bald Freak label. The new track is a far cry from DEP’s trademark math-metal, pairing Pennie’s electronic rhythms and retrowave soundscapes with a soaring synthpop hook, and built around Scalzo’s lyrical themes of nostalgia and longing.

The song — available now on Bandcamp — arrives with an animated video the duo also produced themselves. “Fine Young Hands” follows the project’s self-titled 2019 debut EP, and Bald Freak Music has a full-length Hipster Slaves album planned for 2027.

ARTIST QUOTE

“Through different musical projects over the past two decades, Ron and I have built a great personal and creative relationship. We always seem to land in the same spot, stylistically, which inspires and shapes the writing process. “Fine Young Hands” is an avatar for where we are at this moment in time, making a style of music we have both long enjoyed consuming ourselves.” ~Chris
