ENCEPHALON RELEASES NEW SINGLE + VIDEO “ILLUSIONS” FROM UPCOMING ALBUM AUTOMATON ALL ALONG
ARTOFFACT RECORDS
Canadian electro-industrial trio Encephalon storms back onto the scene with their electrifying new single “Illusions,” the first taste of their upcoming concept album Automaton All Along, set for release on February 21, 2025 via Artoffact Records. The single is available now on all major streaming platforms, and pre-orders for the album have launched at their Bandcamp.
“Illusions” is a high-voltage dive into dystopian soundscapes, merging pounding beats with atmospheric synths and the haunting vocals of Matt Gifford. The track is a testament to Encephalon’s mastery in blending cyberpunk aesthetics with symphonic grandeur, delivering a sound that’s both nostalgic and cutting-edge. With lyrics that probe the blurred lines between reality and perception, “Illusions” sets a provocative tone for the narrative journey of Automaton All Along.
The accompanying music video amplifies the track’s intensity, offering stark, cinematic visuals that mirror the song’s exploration of technology entwined with consciousness. It’s a visceral experience that not only showcases the band’s artistic vision but also leaves an indelible mark on the senses.
With “Illusions,” Encephalon reaffirms their position at the vanguard of the industrial music scene, pushing boundaries and defying genre conventions. Fans of Front Line Assembly, Nitzer Ebb, and The Prodigy will find themselves right at home in the pulsating heart of this new release.
Automaton All Along promises to be Encephalon’s most ambitious project yet—a concept album delving into the convergence of human identity and artificial intelligence in a not-so-distant future. This record is poised to challenge listeners both sonically and intellectually, weaving a complex storyline throughout its tracks.
Pre-order Automaton All Along now and brace yourself for a sonic odyssey that questions the very fabric of reality.
About Encephalon
Encephalon was formed in 2005 in Ottawa, Canada by Alis Keller, Matt Gifford, and Sam Mainer and self-released a number of demos before getting the attention of labels, most notably the German label Dependent (who put out the band’s first commercially available track), and Artoffact Records, who released the band’s debut, The Transhuman Condition. That record went on to receive album of the year nods on music blog I Die: You Die, who noted that Encephalon are “squarely ahead of most of their peers.”
After an eventful half-decade spent playing gigs and festivals, Encephalon returned with their third record, a double-album of stupendous, incredibly well-conceived music. The band continues to inspire and awe fans of cyberpunk industrial, while still drawing on the epic mixture of symphonic-metal, EBM, and, yes, Meat Loaf, that we’ve all come to love.
