Today we have the pleasure of premiering the new LUCKYANDLOVE single ”I Am Human” – a powerful and raw anti-tech anthem, expertly combining aggressive analog sounds with a commanding vocal performance.
LUCKYANDLOVE is the raw sonic experiment of Loren Luck and April Love. On “I Am Human”, the LA-based duo creates an aural landscape of throbbing, intense percussion and gritty, distorted synthesizers that immediately commands the listener’s attention. Fascinating and brilliant, this track showcases the band’s distinctive style, conjuring a dreamy, synth-heavy atmosphere alongside a moody, nocturnal electronic vibe. The result is an uncompromising and inventive sonic experiment that sets a promising tone for their upcoming album.
The lyrical theme is an urgent plea for individuals to unplug and regain their lives from digital overreach. This compelling message serves as a direct preview of the duo’s third album Humaura (hu • mau • ra), which the duo defines as the atmosphere that emanates from the feelings of the human spirit void of technological control.
“To me, “I Am Human” is a sci-fi track. It’s call to arms for screen zombies to disconnect. I read Martin Heidegger’s The Question Concerning Technology in grad school and I like when he says that we shall have questions concerning technology and, in so doing, we should like to prepare a free relationship with it,” says April.
Loren adds, “I think there are a lot of people that actually hate technology, but would never have the guts to say it. Personally with this song, we are breaking the chains, going back to a simpler time of human creativity and free thinking,”.
The coming album benefit from a stellar production team – mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Be Hussey, known for his work with notable artists such as Modern English, Swervedriver, The Church, and Boy Harsher. Additionally, the vinyl and lathe cut versions were mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Nicholas Townsend, whose impressive client list includes Cheap Trick, Weezer, Garbage, and Dr. Dre. This level of professional polish underscores the band’s dedication to their craft and artistic vision.
LUCKYANDLOVE’s debut album Lucky + Love and their equally stunning sophomore record Transitions earned them a global fan following and led to US and UK tours, while their tracks ‘It’s a Mistake’, ‘Animal’ and ‘Summertime Frolic’ featured in the indie hit “Tiger Within”, featuring Ed Asner’s final film performance.
“I Am Human” is available from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full ‘Humaura’ album, slated for release on October 3 via SRD – Southern Record Distributors, can be pre-ordered from either Bandcamp or the LUCKYANDLOVE Store.
On October 11, LUCKYANDLOVE will hold their record release party at The Slipper Clutch in Downtown Los Angeles via Deathrecordzz Presents with appearances by Warsaw Pact, Amore De Paris, No Exits, and a DJ set by Echolust.
