LYNYRD SKYNYRD, ZZ TOP & THE OUTLAWS
@ RUOFF MUSIC CENTER, NOBLESVILLE (IN)
SEPTEMBER 14, 2024
The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour rolled into Noblesville, IN, on September 14, 2024, like a freight train of rock ‘n’ roll! The night sparkled with the electric energy as ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Outlaws blew away a packed arena.
The Outlaws played four songs, starting with their anthem, “There Goes Another Love Song”. With the crowd warming up, the band wrapped their set with the legendary “Green Grass & High Tides”. What an opener!
Next up, ZZ Top brought their swagger onto the stage like the rock gods they are. They kicked things off with “Got Me Under Pressure”. Billy Gibbons and Elwood Francis wore sparkling black suits with sparkly shoes. Seriously, even the stagehands looked like they were auditioning for a fashion show!
Gibbons’ voice had that classic, gravelly vibe – you know, the kind that makes you wonder if he’s been sipping on a little too much whisky. And when Gibbon turned his guitar around to spell out “BEER”, there was instant laughter and applause!
Gibbons and Francis, the string wizards, had their wild guitars and sounds that had everyone scratching their heads in awe. The duo bopped around with their furry purple guitars for “Legs” and ended their set with the crowd-pleasing “Sharp Dressed Man”. Talk about a spectacle!
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Lynyrd Skynyrd took the stage! They opened with “Working For MCA,” and the vibe shifted like a gear in a muscle car!
The audience was a sea of love when the band belted “Tuesday’s Gone” as a heartfelt tribute to the late Gary Rossington, the last original band member, who passed away in 2023. Well, if that didn’t get the crowd misty-eyed, nostalgic footage of the legendary Ronnie Van Zant and the original band members played in the background.
Then came the moment when Johnny Van Zant asked, “Do you love your country”? The roar from the audience could probably be heard from outer space! Van Zant thanked veterans and reminded everyone to vote, saying, “If you don’t vote, you can’t bitch”. This little chat led right into a fan favourite, “Simple Man”.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any more epic, ZZ Top joined Lynyrd Skynyrd for “Call Me The Breeze”. Lynyrd Skynyrd ended the night with the legendary song “Free Bird”, which lingered as the crowd sang their way out of the gated arena.
The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour didn’t just rock Noblesville; it created memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s to more nights of pure rock ‘n’ roll magic!
