The historic venue was filled with visible energy as both veterans and rising stars of the music industry took the stage to celebrate the craft of songwriting in the most heartfelt and collaborative ways.
The night was treated with a poetic performance from Sarah McLachlan, who was joined by none other than Nelly Furtado. The two powerhouse vocalists created a beautiful union. Their voices blended together effortlessly, reminding the audience why they’ve both been staples of Canadian music for decades. The crowd’s enthusiasm was evident, with spontaneous applause echoing throughout the hall.
Tom Cochrane, another legend and inductee this evening, delivered an inviting performance, joined by a rotating cast of fellow artists throughout the night. His presence was commanding as always, but it was his collaboration with Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts that brought a surprising emotional peak to the evening. Cochrane and LeVox embraced on stage, a heartfelt moment that highlighted the deep sense of togetherness and respect between artists, no matter the genre or background.
Adding to the night’s remarkable performances was that of inductee Diane Tell, the francophone singer and musician from Québec, who graced the stage with elegance and poise. Her performance was a highlight, showcasing her timeless songwriting ability and why she remains an adored figure in the music industry. The evening reached yet another high point when Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo performed, their distinct harmonies filling Massey Hall and bringing a sense of nostalgia. The duo’s chemistry has never faltered, and their performance reminded everyone of why Blue Rodeo’s music continues to resonate with Canadians.
We were also treated to performances by other Canadian legends such as inductees plus: AHI, Adam Baldwin, Brett Emmons (The Glorious Sons), Dominique Fils-Aimé, La Zarra, Gary LeVox (Rascal Flatts), Terra Lightfoot, Lights, Matt Mays, Metric, William Prince, Sam Roberts, Ariane Roy, Rafaëlle Roy, Dallas Smith, Tenille Townes and Whitehorse.
