NXNE 2024 – TARA LORD

Tara Lord performed the closing set upstairs at The Smith House Bar on the first night of NXNE. Her performance followed the release of her new album, STAR: Chapter Two, which came out on the same day. Lord was energetic and passionate, making up for a scuffed audio system at the venue. Her rapport with DJ Shannyn Hill made for a dynamic set with multiple variables. At times, Lord addressed the audience with stories of her past while her audio playback did the performing. Her stage presence was magnified during these intermissions, and Lord understood how to capitalize on this energy by synchronizing her voice with the various audios. Songs like “California”, “Home”, “S T A R”, and “For Love” featuring Thelonious stood out as hits, but she saved the best for last, previewing an unreleased single with a Jersey club beat that immediately had the audience bouncing.
