MOVEMENT MUSIC FESTIVAL 2025 @ HART PLAZA, DETROIT
FATHER DUKES
MAY 24, 2025
Being an opener can be lonely. While there is some safety in the small crowd, to get ahead you really need to bring it like the house is full.
Father Dukes kicked off the 25th anniversary of the Movement Festival with some home spun techno vibes arcing across the Stargate Stage, with bravo and fortitude. A Detroit-based DJ and producer, she has rapidly become a prominent figure in the city’s electronic music scene. Known for her eclectic sets that blend techno, acid, and electro, she brings a unique energy to the dance floor. Her performances often pay homage to Detroit’s rich musical heritage while pushing boundaries with contemporary sounds.
The early concert goers still full of energy, but a bit reticent, talked amongst themselves for a bit and then inched towards the stage. Slowly and awkwardly, they began to dance as her set gained steam and created the necessary energy.
She brought that Detroit vibe that is so important to the techno genre and what makes this place so special. Her sizzle was the spark for the rest of the day’s fire.
