SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: WILDES – OTHER WORDS FAIL ME

Other Words Fail Me
AWAL

Ella Walker, aka Wildes is just officially underway with her debut album Other Words Fail Me. Yet, she is coming as a fully formed artist, whose songwriting and presentation is so assured and full of excellent songs as if she’s been around not for years, but decades.

As quite a few other artists recently, Walker has had a traumatic experience that has set her on a path of exposing her emotions through her songwriting and expressing it quite effectively. “I was in an emotionally abusive relationship for five years with a really controlling partner,” shares Walker. “I was scared to break up with him because our lives were so completely intertwined. He made me feel like I couldn’t function without him.”

Working on the album, she wrote more than 40 songs, giving her the ability to carefully pick exactly the ones that will present her state of mind in the best possible way.

Listening to the album is like touching on somebody’s emotional bare wires, but instead of burdening you personally, the album actually turns out to be a musical cleansing for the soul.
