TOKYO TEA ROOM
NO RUSH
INDEPENDENT
Is there a perfect match between an album title and the music it depicts within the grooves (or bites, if you will) these days? If you have a hard time finding such a combination, then look no further that the upcoming UK quartet Tokyo Tea Room’ new album titled No Rush.
The moment the album opens and until the moment the last notes play out, the band sounds as if they are not in a hurry to get anywhere, but they certainly arrive, as their combination of dream pop and subtle R&B/soul exudes with musical substance and emotional tension that is usually one of the hardest things to achieve.
Sure, this is more pop than rock, but it is the kind of sophisticated pop that works without sticking too closely to any type of formulas and played with the precision and emotion that this kind of music requires for it to work.
