The Pack A.D.
It Was Fun While It Lasted
Fontana North
βItβs better to burn out than to fade awayβ, Neil Young sings in βMy My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)β. The Pack A.D. have announced that this will be their last album. Perhaps not forever, but for now this is the final output from the Vancouver garage rock duo. Luckily for us they saved some of their greatest work for their finale.
Many of the albumβs songs bring us the classic Pack sound of fuzz and driving drums. The difference this time seems to be a maturity in the songwriting and the delivery. Songs like βShakeβ, βItβs Okayβ, and βChange Killsβ bring great melodies accompanied by tremendous guitar.
The real standouts on this album are the lead single βGive Upβ and the radio ready βNo Goodβ. The attack of the instruments immediately bring you front and centre with Becky Blackβs vocals drawing you in for more.
If this is the last offering of The Pack A.D. then they are going out on top.Β Congrats on an amazing career to Becky Black and Maya Miller. Hopefully this isnβt a goodbye but more of a βsee you laterβ.
