THE LAST DINNER PARTY
PRELUDE TO ECSTASY
ISLAND RECORDS
Rock is in safe hands with The Last Dinner Party. Their debut album,Β Prelude to Ecstasy,Β soars with confidence, camp, creativity, and precision, and will most likely be the most fun you have listening to a record in a long time.
It is rare that you come across an album with banger after banger. βSinnerβ will be impossible to get out of your head. As soon as the track starts, it instantly has you hooked. Everything about the song rocks. It has a ridiculously catchy and groovy piano riff, an infectious chorus, and a wickedly bad-ass guitar solo.
βNothing Mattersβ is another smashing hit full of pure energy that is off the charts. The line: βand I will fuck you like nothing mattersβ has the greatest use of the word fuck in a song ever. Also, it has a tremendous guitar solo. βMy Lady of Mercyβ has strange and peculiar time signature changes and a super heavy chorus that goes so hard and should be blasted as loud as humanely possible. βBurn Aliveβ has excellent instrumentation, and the ending features some amazing, magnetic, and powerful vocals.
The Last Dinner Party combine various eclectic styles and genres into something original and addicting. βPortrait of a Dead Girlβ is one of the best examples. It has the playful theatrics of Sparks, the powerful and haunting nature of a Lana Del Rey ballad, and a guitar solo that would make any Queen fan scream with joy. Even though other artists inspire the song, it has its own distinct sound, which is not always easy to pull off. Another example is βCaesar On A TV Screen”, a terrific gothic rock opera. It is an impeccable mixture of glam, baroque pop, David Bowie, dance rock, and art rock. The production of the song is top-notch. Like many of the tracks on the album, it has a sensational earworm of a chorus. It is just an unbelievable track.
When 2024 ends,Β Prelude to EcstasyΒ will find itself on the top.
