The Franklin Electric
In Your Head
Last Gang Records
Timeless writing that you cannot afford to escape is a quick taste of sweet candy that Montreal based duo The Franklin Electric brings to their new EP In Your Head.
Right from the get-go when you start to slowly unwrap tracks such as “Made It Up In Your Head” and “I’ve Been Here Before”, it becomes apparent how beautifully organic and raw the tunes are. Each lyric acts as almost an invitation to a backyard session sitting on a rustic orange couch with some of your favourite humans. It’s truly feel-good type of music that reminds you that a lot of us share a similar heartbreak or downfalls in our life.
“I Know You, You Know Me” strikes at the most ideal time, as if you thought it couldn’t get any better. The track most definitely can become a chameleon, for whatever mood you may be in.
At first, I was concerned that this album would easily be compared to the band “1975.” However, with the partnership of unusual vocabulary and smooth twists of silence in “If I Knew” it allows you to hear your heart reply. So, when you listen to In Your Head, it’s best to keep a Holter monitor on hand.
