As is the case with any other band, Melbourne, Australia’s Quivers and their latest album Oyster Cuts can be described in a few simple words, but as is the case with some other Australian greats like Go-Betweens and The Triffids, things are not that simple.

Sure, on the face of it or the first sound of it, you realize that their music is composed out of seemingly simple elements, but Quivers ‘simply’ arrange them in such an intriguing, even complex manner that you just have to agree with their PR quote—“sunshine pop with blood on the water”—lightly structured guitar rock with some delicate female/male harmonies, strange touches sparkled around, and substantive lyrics throughout.

Done before? Yes and no, and that is the key here – Quivers bring along that individual touch that makes their music familiar, listenable, and at the same time unique, something almost everybody strives for, but rarely achieves.
