Nicole Hale has been releasing music since 2009 (four albums so far), but for some reason, seems to be one of those artists that is still (undeservedly) been flying under the radar.

Maybe it has something to do that she moved from New York City to Austin, TX, or it is something else, but it certainly shouldn’t have to do with her music, as her latest album, Some Kind of Longing, amply proves.

Full of Hale’s intricate songwriting and slightly haunting vocals and some detailed, baroquish arrangements and equally detailed lyrics, Hale creates one of those musical atmospheres that simply draws you in and doesn’t let you go until the album’s last notes play. Giving you just one choice, play it again . . . Sam.

Whatever the case may be so far, Hale and her latest album should show up brightly on any listener’s radar.
