It was about time that some other artists would be inspired by the Hollywood film/music combination of the 50s and 60s as seen and heard through the eyes and ears of Lana Del Rey, but inspired in the right way, that is.

This time around it is a German duo Nick & June, who on their latest EP Beach Baby, Baby add that European touch seen and heard through French New Wave films and some other nifty touches, whether it is the EP title itself, with that extra baby added to personify them, and song titles such as “Hugh Grant & His Consequence”.

It all shows that the duo is not only concerned with creating a certain musical atmosphere, but also adding that essential lyrical touch that makes their songs as well and some very good covers work quite well here, thank you.
