LUCY LIYOU
EVERY VIDEO WITHOUT YOUR FACE, EVERY SOUND WITHOUT YOUR NAME
ORANGE MILK

Although the Bandcamp page for Los Angeles’ Korean/American artist Lucy Liyou lists a number of her releases, her album Every Video Without Your Face, Every Sound Without Your Name, is announced as her official debut.
In, fact, it makes no difference, as this 7-song affair is one of those late-night experiences that are thoroughly worthwhile listener’s time—day or night.
Here, Liyou ventures (in the real sense of that word) into the realms between ambient trip-hop with both sense of knowledge and inventiveness rarely found within that genre these days.
It turns out Liyou started writing most of these songs at the age of 19, coping with being a closeted transgender young adult, only completing them recently. Accepting the facts of life seems to have produced musical revelations for Liyou, as this album turns out to be quite a revelatory experience for any listener that picks this album up.
