Local Natives
Time Will Wait For No One
Loma Vista Recordings
Time Will Wait For No One,Β the fifth album from Los Angeles band Local Natives, might not be the most memorable or the best indie rock has to offer, but there are some great moments on this album.
βNYEβ is one of the standout tracks from the album. It has a bright, lively surf-rock-inspired guitar riff and a catchy chorus. It is an absolute blast from start to finish and should be added to summertime playlists. Another highlight from the album is βEmpty Mansionsβ. The track gives off a warm energy, has breathtaking backing vocals and is incredibly relaxing. βPaper Lanternsβ also is a tremendous track, especially in its instrumentation and production. The gentle piano outro is the best instrumentation of the track. It was a perfect idea to end the song that way.
Even though there are quite a few great tracks on the album, it does not stand out from the rest of the crowd. Too many songs sound generic and simplistic. With βFeatherweightβ, the band does experiment a bit as they seem to incorporate a bit of an R&B beat to their sound. However, there are not a whole lot of these interesting sound changes throughout the album.
Time Will Wait For No OneΒ might not be the most groundbreaking album, but it is a decent addition to the indie rock scene.
